Immediate Impact Programs

First Friday
Youth fiesta

Our First Friday initiative brings together 300 youth for a shared community meal, not as an act of charity, but as a point of connection.

Food is used as a bridge to conversation, trust, and relationship-building. Youth are welcomed into an environment that feels normal, affirming, and safe, where no one is asked to explain their circumstances or feel grateful for being fed.

Outcome focus:

  • Consistent access to meals

  • Strengthened relationships between youth and community

  • Reduced isolation and increased trust

Youth Gatherings & Creative Events

We host youth-centered gatherings that prioritize joy, safety, and self-expression. These spaces are intentionally designed to feel relaxed, affirming, and inclusive, allowing young people to connect without pressure or judgment.

Outcome focus:

  • Increased sense of belonging

  • Positive peer connection

  • Safe, supportive social environments

Confidence-Based Initiatives

Back-to-School Choice Program

Rather than distributing pre-selected supplies, our Back-to-School Choice Program centers choice and autonomy.

Each participating youth receives $75–$100 to select clothing and personal care items that help them feel prepared and confident for the school year, including essentials like hygiene products, undergarments, and clothing they actually want to wear.

This approach reinforces dignity and self-respect, recognizing that confidence is not a luxury, it’s foundational.

Outcome focus:

  • Improved self-esteem and readiness

  • Increased school engagement

  • Empowerment through personal choice

Creative & Cultural Programming

Youth-Led Competitions & Showcases

We Can, We Shall hosts creative programming that celebrates culture, talent, and individuality, including:

  • Rap battles

  • Dance-offs

  • Talent showcases

These events are designed and led with youth voices at the center, offering opportunities for expression, recognition, and positive reinforcement. Cash prizes and public acknowledgment reinforce the value of their creativity and effort.

  • Recognition of youth talent and culture

Seasonal Programs

Secret Santa Workshops

Our Secret Santa Workshops reframe the holiday experience by placing youth in the role of givers, not recipients.

Participants select, wrap, and prepare gifts for loved ones, learning generosity, care, and pride in providing for others. This program reinforces identity, agency, and the understanding that youth are contributors to their families and communities.

Outcome focus:

  • Strengthened self-worth and agency

  • Reinforced sense of generosity and responsibility

  • Positive holiday experiences rooted in pride, not pity

We're partnering with Washington Square Taco Bell to provide free walking tacos for Canton youth!

Join us for our Summer Bash on June 5th in Canton, Ohio.

We're bringing live music, dancing, and games for a day of celebration and community connection.

This is a space where young people can show up, have fun, and build meaningful relationships in ways that feel natural and welcoming.

Urban Air Event

Every young person deserves a chance to let loose, feel free, and just be a kid and this June, we're making that happen.

We are so excited to announce our Urban Air Event coming in June 2026! Get ready for a high-energy, joy-filled experience where our youth can jump, laugh, and soar because play is not just fun, it's foundational to healthy development, confidence, and community.

We believe that when young people are given space to be joyful, they grow into resilient, connected, and empowered individuals. Events like this are how we invest in their future not just through programs and resources, but through moments that remind them they are celebrated, supported, and surrounded by people who genuinely care.

4TH OF JULY

Freedom is worth celebrating!

We are thrilled to invite our entire community to the 4th of July Party on First Friday, July 3rd, 2026 in Downtown Canton, Ohio. Gates open at 5 PM and the best part? It's completely free to attend. No tickets. No barriers. Just good people, great energy, and a celebration that belongs to all of us.

Hall of Fame First Friday

Canton is Hall of Fame country.

Join us for our Hall of Fame First Friday on Friday, August 7th, 2026 from 5:00–9:00 PM in Downtown Canton, Ohio. This is one of the most exciting weekends of the year in our city, and we want our community — especially our youth — right in the middle of it.

At We Can We Shall, we use moments like these to show young people that they belong in every room, at every table, and at every celebration this city has to offer. Hall of Fame weekend isn't just about football legends — it's about building the next generation of champions in our own community. Leaders who are confident, connected, and proud of where they come from.

That's why we're committed to removing every barrier between our youth and the fresh start they deserve. Because no kid should ever have to walk into a new school year feeling less than their best.

You're invited to Halloween at Cedar Point — and this October 2026, we're bringing our youth to one of the most iconic experiences in Ohio! Located at 1 Cedar Point Drive in Sandusky, OH, this is more than a spooky night out. It's an opportunity to give young people an experience they will never forget — the kind of memory that reminds them the world is big, exciting, and full of possibility.

We believe every child deserves access to extraordinary experiences not just the kids who have the resources, but every kid in our community. When young people are exposed to new environments, new adventures, and new moments of pure joy, it expands what they believe is possible for their own lives.
